Painting on fabric
Time:   10:00 AM
Place:  Beltsville Library

Painting Technique:  Class on Fabric
"Roses & Leaves"  (using cut celery as the stamping tool)

This fun class will be taught by Kathy Bevard -- no painting experience
needed.  Kathy will show us how to cut a bunch of celery across the
grain and use it  as a "stamp" to give an outline of a large, open rose.

After the shape has been applied to the fabric, the rose petals
outline will be filled in with a fine point fabric pen.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:  Bring various colors of fabric paints -- just bring
what you have, there will be plenty of paint to share; leaf shaped
stamps if you have them; a ruler, painter's tape, freezer or pallet
paper, liner brush or fine line permanent ink pen.  Bring a painting
shirt board, or a plastic covered piece of cardboard to put under your
fabric.

CLASS PREP:  Wash and dry your fabric item -- be sure not
to use fabric softener.

This technique is easy to learn and works up quickly.  Feel free
to bring more than one item to paint.  Suggested items to work on
would be flat pieces, like:  T-shirt, sweatshirt, tea towels,
pillow cases, apron, canvas bags, etc.
